Records are just another facet of a statistical fact that usually amazes us! And statistics are just mere numbers. Record books are as volatile as the thin stratum of ice on the roads after a mild snowfall. Records are meant to broken, made again and broken again! Thus it is not astonishing that people all around the globe keep trying stuffs just to get recognized distinctively as a record holder! At times the records are the more generalized ones like the tallest man, longest train, fasten animal etc. But when I said that people try out to be distinct, they often try out distinct activities! And that’s what gains them a record, a world record popularly recognized by the Guinness book of records. Here are the top 10 weirdest world records that would justify the audacity of people to hold records!

10. The Juggler

Have you seen a joker in a circus or possibly in a theatre juggling a number of rubber balls at the same time? We used to get mesmerized whenever we see a person juggling three or more things at the same time with all the objects being in perfect synchrony with each other and never falling down. Well here is someone who did the same juggling but chose rather the dangerous things to juggle! Milan Roskopf of Slovakia made a world record of in June 2009 by juggling three motor saws 62 successful times in a row. He broke his previous world record of 35 times. Surely it takes a lot of courage to do that!

9. Hiccups

A hiccup is a synchronous diaphragmatic flutter which is an involuntary contraction of the diaphragm that may repeat several times per minute. What? Don’t look so perplexed! I am not teaching you medicine out here but our next world record involves hiccups! The strange thing about this record is it was never intended to be a record! Charles Osborn of the United States started to hiccup when a 350 pound hog collapsed over him while he was about to slaughter it 1922. He hiccupped for a whooping 68 years till 1990 with each hiccup lasting for 10 seconds! Surely, the swine had its revenge!

8. The Hairy strength!

What demarcates a man from a woman? There are several physical differences like facial hair, broad shoulders, stronger stature etc would be your answer. The facial hair, mostly the beard has always been the fashion statement among men with gentlemen adopting various ways to resize their beards. Have you ever seen people using beard for other purposes? How can be a human beard used anyways! Well, you can demonstrate your strength. Here is the next record set up by Ismael Rivas Falcon (Spain) who pulled with his beard a train weighing 2,753.1 kg (6,069 lb) over a distance of 10 m (32.8 ft) at the studios of El Show de los Récords, Madrid, Spain on 15 November 2001.

7. The Spoony affair!

What do we use spoons for? Eating? Of course eating! I am absolutely normal and I use a spoon to eat. But have you taken part in that balance the spoon lemon race as kids? The race where you had to hold a lemon on spoon held between your lips and cover the distance without the lemon falling off! Our next weird record is similar! Tim Johnston seems to have mastered that art! He at the age of 12 managed to balance 15 spoons on his face for 30 seconds which is indeed a world record!

6. The Sniffer!

Would you ever like to sniff anyone’s feet if asked? Most of you would say No! Rightly so! Who would want to smell around people’s feet, which can either be dirty or clean! But what if it is someone’s job to sniff feet? Yes sounds weird, right! The next record on the list is the most feet sniffed by any person which is held by Madeline Albrecht of Cincinnati, Ohio who worked for foot care expert Dr. Schoff’s sniffing feet and armpits. In a career spanning 15 years she sniffed 5,600 feet and an unknown number of armpits till 2009.

5. The Snake Man!

I am sure most people reading the text are afraid of snakes! Aren’t you? Ophidiophobia is one of the common fears among people all around the world and that’s what encourages people like Jackie Bibby to try out weird records with snakes. The man from USA holds the world record for carrying most rattlesnakes in mouth, i.e 8 for 12.5 seconds by their tails in 2001.

4. The Eternal Kiss!

Yes you read it right! How romantic it becomes when you live that very special moment while you smooch your beloved! Well what if I say you that people have attempted kissing forever? In an attempt to achieve the longest ever kiss a couple from Thailand came out triumphant with the longest ever lip-to-lip kiss ever spanning a time of 58 hours 35 minutes and 58 seconds! Ekkachai Tiranarat and Laksana Tiranarat broke their own previous record at an even organized by “Ripley’s Believe it or Not!” in Pattaya, Thailand on 12-14 February 2013.Now that’s Love at its courageous best!

3. The World’s Greatest Miser!

You are not going to believe this! Even I didn’t initially but this woman had crossed all the limits miserliness! Hetty Green also nicknamed as “the witch of the wall street” is the World’s greatest miser ever! Surprisingly she was a very rich businessperson and even the richest woman of the world at some point of time. There are many tales about her stinginess! She never turned on the heat nor used hot water. She wore one old black dress and undergarments that she changed only after they worn out. She did not wash her hands and rode an old carriage. She ate mostly pies that cost fifteen cents. Once she spent whole night searching for a lost stamp worth 2 cents! When Hetty’s son Ned broke his leg he had to have it amputated because Hetty delayed while insisting on finding free medical care! Can you believe that?

2. The Ice Man!

The next best weird world record on the world’s longest full body ice contact endurance. The record is held by the iceman indeed named Wim Hof who is a Dutch adventurer and daredevil. In 2011 Hof broke the ice endurance record twice, in Inzel in February and in New York in November. The Guinness World Record is now set for 1 hour and 52 minutes and 42 seconds by Hof. It is believed that he uses the power of meditation to keep his body temperature stable which generates heat around the region of his lungs!

1.Yuck! That must have smelt!

And here it is! The mother of all the weirdest records ever set! And guess what? The weirdest world record for the list goes to Bernard Clemmens. You would probably puke for what it is! This is the world record for the longest fart! Can you believe that! How did he manage to have so much gas in there! The guy from London managed to sustain a fart for an officially recorded time of 2 minutes and 42 seconds!
