It is about a South Indian girl and North Indian boy falling in love with each other and all the effort they have to put in to convince each other’s families to agree to their relationship. After all the obstacles that come in the way, they finally end up getting married with the blessings of their parents. This love story is like a roller coaster ride. Though, a lot of people, felt that the book was a notch better than the movie.

This movie is again based on a Chetan Bhagat novel named Five Point Someone which was a bestseller. 3 Idiots is directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the director of the Munnabhai Series. And yes, the movie not just matches the level of excellence that the book offers but went way beyond that. It is a story of three friends who face the pressure of being in a top Engineering Institute in the country. It is about how they go about facing their fears and finally discover themselves and what they actually want from their life. The movie has Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi, R. Madhavan and Kareena Kapoor in the main roles.

Omkara, the directorial venture of Vishal Bharadwaj is an adaptation from the book named Othello written by Shakespeare. It is a crime drama film with extremely dark shades to it with a very tragic climax, very beautifully made and unconventional in nature. Shot in Bihar this film has a very real ‘crime’ feel to it. It is a tale of love, lust, deceit, crime, suspicion, revenge and at the end of it all regret.  Very dark and bold, this film surely did justice to the book and made a mark on the audiences and box office alike. The actors who were a part of this flick were Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Vivek Oberoi, Bipasha Basu and Naseeruddin Shah.

7.Ram Leela….Romeo Juliet redefined….

Ram Leela is again an adaption from one of the shakspeare novels. This hindi film is again a very unconventional remake of a book. It is based on the novel Romeo and Juliet. It is directed by Sanjay Leela Bansali, with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone playing the lead roles.The Gujarati culture is depicted at its best in the movie in terms of clothing, dance and music. Wonderful performances by the actors and the grand direction made the movie worth a watch and also made it one of the top best book based movies.
