Guests are a very peculiar part of life; it does not matter in what part of the world we live, one always get guests at home. Friends, family and even distant relative come to visit, sometimes at a holiday and sometimes during vacation. The duration of their visit is small so we try to make their trip as memorable as possible, cleaning the house, scrubbing the bathroom, using new dishes and cooking delicious food, people try to do everything possible to make the guests feel comfortable and relaxed. If you are having guest soon then here are a few tips to make your home looking more welcoming:

10. Use warm colors:

Don’t use bold colors for wall, use light colors like shade of foam and peach. Prefer white color as well. Go for light blue and green, lilac is another awesome color. The best option is to use the colors that you love, same goes for the furniture, don’t use too funky colors, and go for neutral colors such as black, white and brown.

 9. Cool off the house:

In this hot temperature outside, try to keep your home cool off. There should be no humidity inside the house, open all windows and let the fresh air pass by or simply turn on the air conditioners. Try to keep the temperature of the house as less as possible. When someone from the outside comes to your home, he should feel the difference.

8. Put signs of a life:

Don’t try to make your home look general, add a personal touch in it. Put pictures related to your present and past life, with your family and friends. The awards and medals you have received in your life. Keep the book you read in the shelf, the type of food you eat should be in the kitchen. Your home should represent you.

7. Diversity in furniture:

When you arrange the furniture of your house, keep the concept of diversity in your mind. All your furniture should not be alike, for example if you have couch of design A then go for a table of design B. If all your furniture is alike then it would look like a show room. A nice idea is to use the furniture from different eras, like a 70s style dining table and 90s sofa set. You can mix up things as per your taste.

6. Create ambience:

When your guest arrives make sure there is a peaceful place to sit and talk, there are enough chairs on the dining table. Create a pleasant environment inside the house, put fresh curtains, put fresh flowers in the vase, and spray some neutral scent inside the house.

5. Comfortably fashionable furniture:

What is the point of buying a really fashionable couch when it is not comfortable, it is all pretty and good looking but it is of no use because you can’t sit on it without getting a pain in your back. Similarly you have an old couch which is really comfy, exactly the one in which you can curl up easily and read your favorite book but you can’t keep it because it is too old and is messing up the view of the room. You need to buy furniture which is modern as well as comfortable.

4. Make room for guests:

If you are having guests then a very important way to make them feel welcome is to make space for them, prepare the guest bedroom for the guest, put fresh towels & soaps, put some magazines there to read, maybe a good book too, put fresh sheets on the bed, dust off the room. If there is no guest room then arrange mattresses, extra pillow and blankets, put extra chair at the dining table. There should be some privacy available for the guests.

3. make it look like a home, not a hotel:

In order to make your home look perfect don’t make it look like a hotel, hotels have plain white bed sheets, bold curtains, bold furniture, empty and cold. Your home should be different, filled with joy, warmth and energy. Put colorful sheets on the bed, bright color curtains, put some stuff on the dressing table that the guest might need.

2. Focus on the first impression:

They say first impression is always the last impression and the first impression is the entrance to your house, make sure that the front door has been dusted, there are no spider webs, the porch has been  cleaned , there are no leaves & mud at the doorstep, put fresh door mats and remove the dusty one. Keep a plant or two besides the main door, plants makes the house look welcoming. If possible then put a welcome sign at the door, make sure that house number plate is clean so that the guest will find it easy to locate the house in case they are coming for the first time.

1. let the sun light come in:

Don’t keep the house packed with curtains, open the curtains and let the sunlight come in, sunlight makes the house look pleasant and welcoming, it sweeps away depression and brims the house with positive energy. As for the night time use artificial lights but don’t use the orange bulbs, only use the white light. Don’t use a single source of light, use multiple sources.
