Sounds bizarre right? Not anymore! The list below brings to you some of the weird instances of animals under arrest. And you thought that only humans could be kept behind bars! In earlier days animals were held captive as they were found to be guilty of spying against the enemy state. There has been shocking instances of animals supplying mobile phones to the prison, trespassing an area and likewise. The animals listed below where arrested by real police and detained in actual police station.

10.Goat arrested for eating flowers

This news was everywhere over the Internet. Gary, a goat was arrested in Sydney after being found guilty of eating flowers. But what’s wrong about eating flowers? Well, Gary was found eating flowers outside the Museum of Contemporary Art. Sadly, the owner  was asked to pay a fine of whooping 440 Australian Dollars. However the Magistrate was considerate enough to realize that both the owner and his goat were innocent and hence dismissed the case. What came as a surprise to everyone was that Gary had a special lawyer appointed to fight its case. Gary became a star over internet with 16,000 likes on Facebook page.

9. Cat detained for smuggling in prison

A cat is known for its natural agility and athleticism. Recently in the year 2013, a cat was arrested for smuggling cell phones and battery chargers inside a Russian prison. The cat easily managed to climb the prison walls and get in the jail bars. The officials caught the cat with certain devices taped on its belly. It was believed that the cat was raised up by the prisoners and send out to their family members to pick up their needs and bring it back to the prison. Every prisoner in the jail was taken as a suspect for this case

8. Spy Swan

How innocent and pretty a swan looks! But then never go by looks. A swan was recently arrested in Egypt charged for spying. The bird was found to be a spy agent from French government. The spy swan was spotted first by a local fisherman, who found it with an electronic device attached to it. However after thorough investigation, the bird was set free as it found out that the device was merely attached to study the migratory patterns of the swan.

7. Goat detained for Armed Robbery

Well, who knew a goat could be capable enough for a bank robbery? In 2009, a goat in Nigeria was arrested on the grounds of being a suspect of armed robbery. He was handed over to the police by the locals who believed he was a robber who used black magic to transform himself as a goat. Such allegations are common in Nigeria, where traces of witchcraft are still found.

6. Parrot as member of drug cartel

Parrots have always managed to find a place at our homes as a cute pet. But these birds have also found a place for themselves at drug cartels. In Colombia, it s a common sight to find parrots looking out for drug cartels. These parrots are trained to cry out loud “Run” in Spanish at the sight of police officials. Lorenzo, a parrot was caught by the police for the same reason and was led to its owner who owned 200 deadly weapons and huge amount of drugs. The police also caught hold of other 2 birds trained for the same purpose.

5.Elephant arrested for murder

There have been various movies that depicted an elephant being very hostile towards its owner. But there has been instances that make you believe otherwise. In January 2013, Ramchandran, an elephant was arrested for killing 3 women in Kerala. The 45 year old elephant became wild and furious and was beyond anyone’s control.  Later it was captured and kept under supervision. The owner was asked to pay a sum of 30 lakhs to the deceased family. Further it was declined participation from any processions and events.

4. Donkey arrested for Assault

A donkey is always not that harmless how much it looks! In 2008, a donkey was arrested for kicking two elderly men in Mexico. One of them fractured his ankle and the other too suffered serious injuries. The donkey became uncontrollable and was controlled by 6 men. The owner ended up paying $420 to both the parties.

3. Cross-border trespasser Monkey

Monkeys are famous for their notorious acts. Bobby, an Indian monkey was chared on the grounds of trespassing. Bobby had crossed the India and Pakistan border and was found from the outskirts of Punjab province in Pakistan. The monkey was caught and handed over to the Bahawalpur Zoo. Bobby was considered to be innocent as he simply seem to have lost his way and ended up at the wrong place.

2. Spy Squirrels

These cute little things are no such exception from others in this list. A group of 14 squirrels was arrested in Iran by the Iranian army in 2007. This group was found carrying devices used for gathering information around the Nuclear power plant near the Iranian Border.

1. Vulture Spy

It is considered to have the sharpest of sight! A vulture was accused of carrying a GPS tracker and was seen flying in the vicinity of Saudi Arabia. It was initially thought to be a spy- A Mossad agent. However, after some investigation, the researchers claimed it to be an exercise to study the migratory pattern of the bird. The Vulture was hold captive in western Sudan.
